Christy Agnese works in the Ithaca College School of Music as the operations and external relations officer. She earned a B.A. in music from Ithaca College and an M.S. in arts administration from Drexel University.
She oversees the operations of the music school, including concerts and special events, budget and donor funds, and the ICNYC program for music students, in addition to representing the school to the community, alumni, and donors. For the past two years she has served as the School of Music’s representative to Staff Council.
Christy's previous related experience includes: executive director for Habitat for Humanity of Tompkins and Cortland Counties (2009–10); communications and community partnerships manager for the Philadelphia Orchestra (2008–9); and major gifts and planned giving coordinator for the Philadelphia Orchestra (2007–8).
She is the vice chairperson of the Tompkins County Strategic Tourism Planning Board where she serves as Ithaca College’s representative and the chair of the budget committee. Previously, she as served as an ambassador for the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce. When she lived in Philadelphia, she served on the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Grant Panel for the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts Award.
In summer 2014 she graduated from the HERS Denver Institute for women leaders in higher education. She has successfully completed the Leadership Tompkins Program, IC's Supervisory Academy, and Fundraising School at Indiana University's Principles and Techniques of Fundraising program.
Her husband, Daniel, is a physical therapist and a graduate of the physical therapy program and IC. She enjoys playing with Porter, their greyhound, being in water, reading books on her Kindle, laughing loudly, visiting museums, ducks, and — of course — music.
