Christy Agnese works in the School of Music as the operations and external relations officer. She oversees the operations of the school including concerts and special events, budget and donor funds, and the ICNYC program for music students, in addition to representing the school to the community, alumni, and donors.
Christy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music with an Art History minor from Ithaca College and a Master of Science Degree in Arts Administration from Drexel University.
Christy's previous related experience includes: executive director for Habitat for Humanity of Tompkins and Cortland Counties, communications and community partnerships manager for The Philadelphia Orchestra, and major gifts and planned giving coordinator for The Philadelphia Orchestra.
She represents Ithaca College on the Tompkins County Strategic Tourism Planning Board where she also serves as vice-chair of the board and chair of the budget committee. Previously she was an ambassador with the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce. When residing in Philadelphia, she served on the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Grant Panel for Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts Award.
Christy is currently the staff representative on the Ithaca College Board of Trustees. Before her board appointment she served as the School of Music’s representative to Staff Council for two years.
In summer 2014 she graduated from the HERS Denver Institute for women leaders in Higher Education. She has successfully completed the Leadership Tompkins Program, IC's Supervisory Academy, and Fundraising School at Indiana University's Principles and Techniques of Fundraising program.
She is married to Dr. Daniel Agnese, a physical therapist at Cayuga Medical Center. She enjoys playing with Porter the greyhound, being in water, reading books on her Kindle, laughing loudly, visiting museums, ducks, and, of course, music.
