As Director of the Park Media Lab Carol guides students and professionals who collaborate on media projects that engage local and international audiences. She oversees The Studio, a creative incubator for students who are interested in producing content for the entertainment industry, and Park Productions, an award-winning video production company staffed by students. The Park Media Lab has partnered with government agencies, private industry, and higher education institutions on media projects funded by the National Science Foundation, the National Institute of Health, New York State 4-H, and private foundations. The Lab's team of students, professionals, and alumni have made feature films, shorts, commercials, television programs, educational, corporate, and web based media. The lab's work has screened at festivals including Montreal, Oberhausen, Palm Springs, Toronto, and Hudson Valley, and won many awards including the "Best of Festival" King Foundation Award from the Broadcast Education Association and first place from The Smithsonian "In Motion" video contest. Carol has an MFA in film and television production and a Masters in cinema studies from New York University and graduated from Cornell University as a double major in English and history. Prior to moving to Ithaca, she was in New York City working in book publishing, independent film, advertising, and publicity. She has taught producing, directing, and cinema production for beginning, intermediate, advanced, and thesis levels.
