Thank you for visiting my profile page.  I have had the pleasure of working at Ithaca College for over 20 years, first in Residential Life and for the past 14 years in Career Services, where I serve as Associate Director and manage our first satellite office in the School of Business. In addition to Career Services, I have served as a member of the Ithaca College Board of Trustees (2008-2011), as a Lecturer in the School of Business (2006-2012), and currently as a Staff Associate for the First-Year Residential Experience program.  My educational background includes a Master of Business Administration (concentration in Marketing) from the School of Management at Binghamton University and a Bachelor of Arts from Harpur College of Arts and Sciences at Binghamton University with dual majors in Psychology and Cinema.

My professional affiliations include the Eastern Association of Colleges and Employers (EACE), where I am a past President (3 year term, presidential year 2011-2012), as well as a past Board member (2007-2009).  I am also a member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).  Previously, I served on the advisory board of Experience (acquired by Symplicity in 2014) a pioneer and industry leader in the field of online college recruiting systems.

Service is very important to me and it manifests in several different ways in my life.  I am an elected Councilmember for the town of Caroline and serve as liaison to the Emergency Service providers, as well as chair the disaster preparedness committee.  I have also been very active in trying to bring broadband internet access to our community.  In addition to this, I currently serve on 4 non-profit boards including the Greater Tompkins County Municipal Health Insurance Consortium, One World Market (formerly Ten Thousand Villages - Ithaca), a local non-profit store working to ensure fair trade, Twin Tiers Honor Flight, and the National Dance Society.

The arts play a core role in my life on several fronts: Comedy, Film, Music, and Writing.  I am a founding member of ComedyFLOPs, an improv comedy troupe,  which performs frees show on alternating Fridays at 6:00 p.m. at Lot 10 in Ithaca.  Through audience donations we have raised over $2,500 for organizations such as Hospice, Healthy Food For All and our current charity, Community School of Music and Arts.   I am an experimental film artist who has had the good fortune to have works exhibited at galleries and festivals.  In 2011 my band Loose Change, for which I am a primary songwriter, released the song, Carry On, (iTunes, Amazon, CDBaby) as a fund raiser to help address the unmet and often catastrophic health care needs of 9/11 first responders.  We are currently working on our first album, which we hope will be finished in late 2014.  I am co-author of the play, Club Hell, which was most recently performed by Harlequin Productions of Cayuga Community College as well as a sci-fi/fantasy novel, Cataclysm, which is currently in final edits.

How do I do all of this?  Easy.  I figured out what I was passionate about and let people into my life who share these passions.  As a result I'm blessed with good, creative, friends, a house full of cats (currently 6) and an amazing and talented wife (Nancy Kane), who I've known since 8th grade.  I lead a fully engaged life and isn't that what it's all about?
