Language & Literature Databases
The Library provides access to several databases useful for the study of languages & literatures.
-
Literature Online (LION)
with MLA LION includes, in addition to MLA International Bibliography citations,
citations to the British equivalent of MLA, the Annual Bibliography of English Language &
Literature, also brief biographical information on authors, and full-text by authors.
The brief biographies and links to text make it a good preliminary source for undergraduates,
but it does not provide as many search options as the MLA alone (See just below).
-
MLA
International Bibliography of Books & Articles On the Modern Languages & Literatures is
the US standard resource for study of languages and literatures, and provides more extensive options
for searching than LINO does.
-
Project
MUSE provides access to full-text of recent scholarly articles in various disciplines, with
some options for searching in particular areas, like "French Studies" or "Latin American Studies"
-
JSTOR
provides access to full-text of scholarly articles, from their initial publication date (soms
started in the 1900s) to within the latest 3-5 years, with options to search by subject areas like
Language & Literature or Latin American Studies
