Thomas M Sayers is the Piano Technician at Ithaca College. This duty includes the tuning and care of the 185 pianos in the School of Music, as well promoting an environment of passion and excellence between the students, faculty, and staff.
After attending New England Conservatory for Piano Technology in 2001, began work at M. Steinert and Sons in Boston, MA, as a full-time technician at Bostons only authorized Steinway dealership. During this time, received training at the Theodore Steinway technical Academy, and in Piano Disc installation in Sacramento, CA. As well as Piano Technician Guild conferences and seminars.
Eventually returning to the finger lakes region, to be closer to family, began a decade long employment at The Country Piano Shop in Burdett, NY specializing in the restoration of vintage Steinway and other fine pianos. This time also afforded me the chance to build a rewarding private tuning business, perform and record music, and start a wonderful family of my own. This all leading to the amazing opportunity to work here at Ithaca College.
Being born and raised in this area has given me a great sense of responsibility to bring all I have learned and experienced to the Ithaca College School of Music, and strive to create a place of great learning and experience.
