Marilyn Dispensa

Instructional Designer III, Center for Instructional Design and Educational Technology
Office: Working remotely through May 2021.

I am a Senior Instructional Designer within the Center for Faculty Excellence at Ithaca College.

My approach is to focus on the teaching goals or problems first and then suggest the technology solutions that might best suit the needs. However, sometimes new technologies offer new possibilities so  I strive to be proactive in identifying new technologies or innovative uses of old technologies.

During many years of doing laboratory research in the life sciences, I learned how valuable computers were doing research and communicating results. After leaving the lab bench, I received an M.A. in Instructional Design and Technology from the University of Iowa with a concentration in computer based instruction.  I have over  20 years of experience working at The University of Iowa, Cornell University, and Ithaca College working with faculty on the design and production of multimedia projects as well as front line customer service and support.
